Task 1: Definie Creativity

Definition of creativity

My definition - Creativity to me is taking an idea, either your own or another's and then building on that until it shows a little or a lot of your self in it.  

Oxford dictionary - The use of imagination or original ideas to create something.

similarities: using ideas,

    creating something

Differences: doesn't have to be your own idea,

doesn't include building on ideas, doesn't show your own style

I think that my definition is better as things can still be creative when put in different formats and changed until the original is unintelligible. 

Task 3: ‘Colourbleed’

Colourbleed

The short film 'Colourbleed' could be considered creative because of its representation of creativity, it may stick to some stereotypes such as 'angry old law-abiding lady' and the 'punk spray paint artist' so character wise it not so creative. Despite the stereotypical characters it still manages to be creative in other ways. 

It is creative by not using much speech but rather using a soft melodic soundtrack that is setting a calming tone this could be how the director wanted the main girl to be seen. The main characters tattoos and clothing contrast against the world around her this could be to show how she herself, is the creativity being being bled of of her art or that the corporate world around her (skyscrapers and official government documents) starting with the old woman who almost takes away her creativity. When you look around at the other people in the scenes they all seem to be in dark or plain clothing except for the main girl and the young girl at the end whose clothing is a lot brighter almost as if she is creativity being reborn.

Colour is a very important aspect of this short film as it show that creativity is almost in her veins, inside of her as well as this it put an bright and enthusiastic tone on the drab expanse of the rest of her city.      

Task 2: Creativity and Originality

         Creativity

I don't agree with Herman Melville's quote I believe that you can still be creative in imitation as everyone has their own style as well as there own way on doing a project. If someone was to 'fail in originality' then someone would have to imitate them to ensure that the idea would succeed and even if the original idea succeeded there would always be room for improvement.

A real world example of this would be the two Telltale games 

'The walking dead' as well as 'Tales from the Borderlands' they come from the same company, have the same game mechanic (point and click) as well as the same art style yet are able to target completely different people and have different emotive storys

I think that the main problem with media ownership is that people go to great lenths to get the best story. Sometimes this is not okay with the person or the audience like 'the phone hacking scandel' where they were hacking into celebritys phone and getting at their privet information and not giving them space as they are still humans and they need their own life that's not in the media.
