Media Ownership 1a/1b).
Question a). In your own words, what are the points he makes about the BBC’s power?
He points out that the money they get off of the TV licence makes it harder for other media organisations to survive and that the BBC are guaranteed that the profit will stay the same whilst other media organisations profit will go up and down as they are not funded by the government this makes it harder for them to afford stories and to get it out. the other media organisations will also struggle because the advert revenue are dropping another thing is that privet organisations find it harder to ask for their audience to pay as they can use the BBC.
Question b). What do you think? Does the BBC have too much power and should we have the licence fee?
I think that the BBC should not have as much power as they do as it costs a lot and doesn't leave much room for other organisations. I also think that we should not take away the licence fee but just reduce it so that the BBC do not have as much money to spend on so that other organisations would have a chance.
